WorkSafeNB is seeking a one-year term contract for a Case Manager. A Case Manager is responsible for a broad range of responsibilities including assessing the needs of individual workers and administering the benefit provisions of the Workers' Compensation Act. They also exercise leadership in the development of a goal-oriented return-to-work plan; liaising with employers, health-care providers, unions, and other service providers to ensure access to appropriate medical and vocational rehabilitation services. Other responsibilities include managing assigned caseloads, preparing reasoned plain language decisions, adhering to procedures for return-to-work management and approving/authorizing services and benefits for injured workers on an ongoing basis. If you possess some of the following key elements, you are the individual we need to make a difference in the lives of our clients. • You have experience in building strong trusting relationships with clients and external service providers to promote early and safe return to work outcomes. • You exercise leadership in the development of a goal-oriented return-to-work case plan, by proactively managing a timely and safe return-to-work process through the active participation of the injured worker and employer. • You can work in a high pace environment without losing sight of the Safe and Early Return to Work Goal. • You work collaboratively with injured workers, employers, and health-care professionals, in the development of the return-to-work plan. • You manage, organize, and prioritize a high-volume workload; deal with changing and conflicting priorities and deadlines, remain professional and maintain resiliency when confronted with challenging circumstances. • You prepare written decisions that contain the issue in review, the policy tests, the evidence, the weighing of evidence, the rationale for the decision and conclusion that supports WorkSafeNB’s position. • You act as principal decision maker on assigned claims and effectively communicate decisions both verbally and in writing when determining entitlement to compensation, services, and medical aid. • You make decisions in a fiscally responsible manner including verification and authorization of benefit entitlements and to defend these decisions in writing, both when approving and denying entitlement to compensation. You should possess the following qualifications to be considered for this position: • A University Degree is required. A degree in the field of health-related sciences or Social Sciences (e.g., Psychology or Social Work) would be considered an asset. • Five years of experience in the field of medical management, disability management, vocational counseling, vocational rehabilitation, or other related work experience. • Knowledge of social agencies and the services/benefits available such as Social Assistance, Employment insurance, Canada Pension Plan Disability. • Knowledge or experience with the following acts would be an asset: Workers’ Compensation Act, Workplace Health Safety, Compensation Commission Act, Firefighters Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Human Rights Act, Privacy of Information Act, Employment Standards Act and Employment Insurance Act, etc… • Demonstrate critical thinking and reasoning for decision-making and writing is considered an asset. • Experience in interpreting and implementing legislation and policy is considered an asset. • A certification in disability management is considered an asset.

Your primary workspace will be from your in-home office, with the occasional expectation of in person meetings, for that reason, working from outside the province or country is not permissible. Pay Scale $84,269.81 to $99,140.95 Hours of work are those required to perform the assigned tasks but shall not be less than 35 hours per week. Benefits include vacation, sick time and the New Brunswick Public Service Pension Plan.
